Create lists and save searches
Keep track of items with customizable lists—or save dynamic searches.
June 9, 2026
Instructions:
The library catalog lets you bookmark books and other materials in custom lists and saved searches. Here's how!
(If you're not signed in to your library account, all bookmarks will disappear when you close the browser. Remember to sign in before leaving to keep a record of saved items.)
Create Lists
Step 1
After signing in to your account, search the catalog or follow a link to a specific item / page of search results.
Step 2
On a search results or individual item page, click the For Later / bookmark icon.
Step 3
That title will be saved to the default "For Later" list. Click the For Later name and a drop down menu will appear where you can choose to move the item to a different list, or create a new list.
Step 4
If you want to create a new list, click that option and then enter a new list name. Click the Done button or press Enter on your keyboard to complete the process.
Step 5
Continue the same process with additional items: pressing the bookmark icon will save items to the most recent list used in the same session—for example, if you save something to a "New Fiction" list, then the next item saved will also be saved in the "New Fiction" list by default, instead of the "For Later" list.
Step 6
To review the items in your lists, click the bookmark icon along the right side of the screen.
Step 7
Choose from your individual lists. You can also click the Edit in member portal link to view all lists in the full Account Portal view.
Step 8
When done, click X in the top-left of the Bookmarks sidebar menu to close that view.
Save Searches
Unlike bookmarking items, you cannot save searches without being signed in to your library account.
Step 1
Enter your search terms in the library catalog, and click the magnifying class or press Enter on your keyboard to perform the search.
Step 2
Apply filters to your search that you want included in the saved version.
Step 3
When the search is configured the way you want, click the Save Search button between the search bar and your search results.
Step 4
Enter a name to save this as a new search, or click the Update Existing Search tab to replace a previously saved search with the current configuration. When complete, click the Save Search button.
Step 5
To review your saved searches, click the magnifying class icon along the right side of the screen.
Step 6
Choose from your individual saved searches. Clicking on the name of the search will perform it again. This can be useful to determine when new items are added to the catalog (especially if a New materials filter is included in the search). You can also click the Edit in member portal link to view all lists in the full Account Portal view.
Step 7
Click the three dots to get additional options: edit search name, delete, share via X / Facebook / email, and copy the search link.
Step 8
When done, click X in the top-left of the Bookmarks sidebar menu to close that view.
